The first GW of installed UK offshore wind energy capacity, comprising 11 wind farms and 336 wind turbines has been achieved cementing the UK’s “world-wide lead” in the sector.

The landmark has been reached after two wind farms began generating electricity in late April, including DONG Energy’s Gunfleet Sands and E.ON’s 180MW Robin Rigg wind farm.
