Adnams Bio Energy has begun injection of renewable gas from brewery and food waste into the National Grid from its AD facility in Suffolk. In partnership with British Gas and National Grid, the Adnams Bio Energy plant consists of three digesters and in addition will deploy solar thermal panels and photovoltaic cells to generate renewable electricity for the plant.

British households are cooking and heating their homes with renewable gas, produced from human waste. A landmark project at Didcot sewage works in Oxfordshire will produce enough renewable gas to supply up to 200 homes. The Thames Water, British Gas and Scotia Gas Networks joint venture, the first of its kind, took six months to complete and cost £2.5m.
